About Renewed Minds Xcel
The Visionary
Demone Dickerson is the Founder and Executive Director of Renewed Minds Xcel. He is dedicated to transforming lives and communities by leveraging his passion as a public speaker and his personal journey to restoration. Demone is a rehabilitation counseling professional who saw the need for an outlet where damaged people could receive healing for their minds and restoration of their dignity. The aim is to inspire and educate audiences on important topics pertaining to the need to restore rights to individuals who have transitioned from incarceration to productive citizens in society.
His passion for inspiring positive change through public speaking has allowed him to connect with and impact various groups. A dedication to nonprofit work and public speaking has led to a multifaceted career that allows him to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and communities. He looks forward to connecting with like-minded professionals and organizations to continue sharing his personal journey and inspiring positive change.
The Mission
Renewed Minds Xcel, Inc (ReMiX), was founded with a clear mission: to assist at-risk individuals in the areas of reentry and rehabilitation. Demone has developed and delivered workshops and classes focused on life skills and workforce entry strategies for individuals impacted by the criminal justice system. Through strategic partnerships with the City of Memphis and various businesses, he has created collaborative opportunities that have allowed ReMiX to have a positive impact on those who are in need of a fresh start. The main areas of concentration are: driver license reinstatement, focus on fatherhood, stages of change, and solution-focused guidance.
Driver License Reinstatement
ReMiX understands that many individuals are burdened with the financial responsibility of paying fees and fines related to suspended/revoked driving privileges. We work to eliminate that barrier by providing the necessary information and resources to assist in once again obtaining a valid driver license.
Focus on Fatherhood
ReMiX will stop at nothing in our effort to equip fathers with the tools to repair any broken relationships involving their children. It is our belief that an increase in present fathers will lead to a decrease in the crime rate among youth. There is no discussion off limits in this class offered on responsible fatherhood.
Stages of Change
Changing behavior is a process, and it takes time. The most important component is to accept that change is necessary. We walk individuals through the stages of change and witness a positive transformation take place during the process.
Solution-Focused Guidance
The ultimate goal of ReMiX is to assist in finding solutions. In order to accomplish that, we encourage participants to minimize dwelling on the problem and instead focus on solutions. The solution-focused guidance is administered through one-on-one sessions. Individuals are led away from pessimism and negativity while being introduced to a style of optimism and positivity.
Collaborative Effort
We partner with a variety of organizations and businesses in the community to provide insight and address the needs of formerly incarcerated individuals and those at risk of getting caught up in the criminal justice system.
